For more many years, the country has been a hub for all sorts of arts, with artists inspired by its beauty and complexities. This year, Lebanon even got its first Oscar nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film with Ziad Doueiri’s The lnsult. While the film industry isn’t in perfect condition, Lebanon is full of ambitious filmmakers and actors, trying to make their mark in the art world. When examining different Lebanese personalities, there’s no better place to look than a film set.
To start our list off, we have someone enthusiastic. The person pulling all the strings behind the scenes, or at least trying to do it right. Since aspiring film students don’t have enough experience to gather enough money for their project, they usually find themselves doing a lot of extra work in order to get the job done. Kasir works part-time on his own schedule to help pass some extra articles you’ll often see posted here.
Raffee is probably not too experienced in the Hollywood-style of film making but he does recall the glory days of Lebanese film production. That means he’s someone who knows all the ins and outs of an an-old business that is getting a second wind finally. He lends his stories and good will toward the foundation as a whole.
If there is one guy who knows something about making a film work on schedule- Salib has worked miracles on a budget the size of a peanut. He has overseen many previous festivals organized in Lebanon before moving to the USA. Now he’s contributing to some of the newest low budget productions filmed in Mexico all the time. He still has a love for Lebanese film which is why he gives plenty of contributions in his spare time.
You might not have heard of her yet, though she’s still largely unseen anyway. Well sort of- She’s actually a very well-known ‘hand model’ for production stand-in’s. If you’ve seen that insert shot of a lovely woman pouring some wine or a super-spy typing away on the pc- that’s usually Fanna and her incredible hands. She also acts as our special reports guide to the latest events happening in the Festival scene.
People of Lebanon are always stylish and definitely know how to have fun. But as you see from our team members above, they know how to gather the needed info and get the job done by any means necessary. We welcome any comments you might have and as always- in order to grow as a website we would love to hear your ideas and input along the way.
